#TGIF108 - Sketch Challenge

Good morning...and happy Friday!  Welcome back...and you're just in time for something sweet for this week's TGIF Challenge!

It's #TGIF108...and it's a sketch challenge!

Click the image above to go to the TGIF Challenges blog for all the details.  You'll be able to see what the TGIF designers have shared to inspire you...and you'll also be able to see what other challengers have created, too!  But's my sketch challenge project!

One of the cool things about working from a sketch is that it can be your inspiration for a card, for gift wrap or gift tags...or for bottle here.  It's root beer float bottle tags...and of course, there's a bit of a back story!  Each summer we're lucky to spend extra time with our grandsons.  We totally enjoy sharing our own childhood memories with them...and we especially love sharing our favorite childhood experiences with them, too!  One my own special childhood memories is my parents taking us for root beer floats.  We'd all pack into our car...after we had our baths and put on our pajamas...and we'd head over to the Dog'n'Suds in our little town.  We'd wait in the car for the "waitress" to come out...we'd place our root beer float order...and then we'd wait for her to come back with our floats!  This was such a special thing to do...mostly because we went out in our pajamas and because we got to eat in our car...and if I close my eyes I can still see (and smell!) it all!  The smell of the food....the sound of the frosty mugs clinking together a bit on the tray are such vivid memories...and I clearly remember watching the tray attach to the car window with the metal clips.  Good times...for sure.  Fast forward to today...and part of our summer tradition with our grandsons is to enjoy a root beer float after bed time...some times at our nearest Culver's...and some times at home...but always after their bath and in their pajamas.  I hope they will always remember these times...and I do!   And make our first summer floats a bit extra special I though I'd create these fun bottle tags...with a hidden note for each of them, too!

The #TGIF108 sketch was perfect for the simple look I was looking for...and the bottle tags were SUPER easy to make, too!  I started with a 7-1/2" x 3" piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock, scored it at the 2-3/4" mark, and punched the center of the smaller area with a 1-3/4" Circle Punch.  Easy peasy...for sure!

I went totally out my comfort zone to do a bit of water coloring to create the root beer float as the main image...and to create the hidden messages!  To do that I simply cut a layer of white cardstock the same size as the water colored paper (which I scored at 1/2" so it could be lifted to read the message)...stapled them together...and attached them to the Sending Love DSP I had centered on the tag.  I then wrote a sweet message to each of the boys.

How will YOU be inspired by this week's sketch challenge?  You'll find the link to add your own project at the #TGIF108 Challenge page HERE.  I can't wait to see what you create!

OSAT Blog Hop - Clean and Simple

Good morning...and happy Thursday!  I'm hopping this morning with the One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop...with a Clean and Simple theme!

So...I've had the idea for this card for awhile...and I knew as soon as I saw the new Birthday Friends stamp set that I wanted to use this darling little girl image.  Isn't she just as sweet as can be?   I also knew that I wanted her to be carrying this little floral bouquet behind her back...and at the last minute I stamped the image on Berry Burst Cardstock for the just pop of color that I was looking for.

And then...because she is carrying flowers...I thought this quick and easy floral wrap would be the perfect way to complete my project.  I simply cut a 9"x 9" square of Fresh Florals DSP (in Berry Burst) and shaped it into a fun cone...perfect for the fresh lilacs I cut from our bushes in the side yard.

I cut a small tag in Basic Black, added a stamped and die cut bouquet to match the one carried by the little girl on the card and attached it to the floral wrap's Berry Burst woven ribbon.  Clean and simple...and lovely to boot!

And on over to see what my crafty friend Kelly has for you!  It's sure to be something wonderful!

And just in case you're looking for's the full list of hop links.  Enjoy!
